XP Support will Continue Print

There is a great deal of confusion between "End of life", meaning they will no longer sell it, and End of support". Windows will continue to be supported by Microsoft for many years.
 
"Mainstream Support: will continue until 04-14-2009, and "Extended Support" will continue until 04-08-2014.

So, don't worry about support ending. At least not in the near future.
 
Also, if you buy a Dell with Vista Business or Vista Premium, you can exercise "downgrade rights", and Dell will perform the downgrade to XP for you.
